OUT THERE.

Active & Outdoor

Up here, the world goes quiet.

We take you high. Above the tree line, above the noise, to views that simply don’t end. The world you left down there? For a few hours, it stops existing.

This is where a place stops being a postcard and becomes real. You walk it. You breathe it. A mountain hut with soup and a view no photo ever gets right. A picnic by a lake so clear you can see the bottom. Lying in the grass with nothing to do but watch the clouds. Rivers the colour of glass, waterfalls deep in national parks, a swim in the sea after a day in the hills. Your legs get tired. Your head gets clear.

On your own or with a guide, easy trails or real summits. The secret is knowing which path, which hut, which hour the light is best, and which day the weather turns. We read the mountain, so you don’t have to.

This is our backyard. You go out there. We sort the rest.

Your outdoor escape

Come for the views. Leave a different person.

Thank you for choosing to step outside. Out here nobody checks their phone, the air tastes different, and a simple sandwich on a mountain is the best meal of the trip.

Up highWhere the world goes quietSummits, ridges and alpine meadows with views that run all the way to the horizon. Easy walks or real climbs.
The waterLakes, rivers and the seaSwim in a lake you can see the bottom of, follow a river through a national park, finish the day by the sea.
Your paceOn your own or with a guideHiking, biking, rafting or simply lying in the grass. We match the day to your legs, not the other way round.

Tell us what makes you feel alive outside. We’ll find the trails, the huts and the quiet corners worth your time.

Up on the mountain

The world above the valley.

Slow panorama walks. Mountain lakes the colour of glacier ice. Waterfalls you hear long before you see them. Hut terraces where the cheese comes from the cows outside the window, and summer evenings that never seem to end. This is what’s waiting up there.

We work with licensed local mountain guides who know every step, every bend, every legend and every hidden corner of these trails. With them, a walk is no longer just a walk. It’s a whole new world.

Where we always start

Austria’s highest waterfalls, 380 metres in three giant steps. The path climbs right beside them, so close the spray cools your face and the roar fills your chest. Every bend opens a new view, and every view is louder than the last.

Our tipGo in the morning, when the sun hits the spray. That’s when the rainbows appear inside the falls.
Your rewardA cold drink at the top, then a slow walk down with the waterfall at your back.

Our tipBefore or after, walk the Sigmund-Thun gorge in Kaprun. Wooden walkways over roaring water, pure magic on a hot day.

The Pinzgauer Spaziergang, our legendary high trail from Saalbach to the Schmittenhöhe above Zell am See. Lifts up at both ends, and in between a ridge with the glaciers of the Hohe Tauern on one side and soft green valleys on the other. All day long.

Our tipThere are no huts on the ridge, which is exactly why it’s so quiet. Pack a proper picnic and plenty of water. You don’t have to walk it all: we help you pick the stretch that fits your legs.
Your rewardThe cable car down to Lake Zell, and a long cold drink by the water.

Climb to the summit cross and turn around slowly. Lake Zell sparkling below, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier across the valley, and the pale rock wall of the Steinernes Meer behind you. Few summits give you this much in one look.

Our tipGo on a clear morning after rain. The air is washed and you can see the glaciers in sharp detail.
Your rewardA long break at the summit cross. Bring a picnic, this is the place for it.

Our home valley, the quiet way. The Talschluss trail takes you to the very end of the Glemmtal, past four alms, where the road stops and only cows, streams and wooden huts remain. This is the Saalbach most skiers never see.

Our tipJust above the Forsthofalm there’s a bench with one of the best views in the valley. Sit, and stay a while.

The gondola takes you up the Fulseck, and there it is: the Spiegelsee, a small lake sitting on the mountain top, with clouds drifting below you and the glaciers of the Hohe Tauern closing the valley. A perfect day for families and slow walkers.

Our tipKids love the barefoot path and the wobbly bridge at the lake. Then finish the day in Gastein’s warm thermal water.

Bonus · across the border

Every January the world watches the Hahnenkamm race. In summer, you can walk it. The gondola takes you up to the starting house at 1,660 metres, and from there you follow the racers’ line down: the Mausefalle with up to 85% gradient, the Steilhang, the Hausbergkante, all the way to the finish. Standing at the top, you’ll wonder how anyone skis this at over 100 km/h.

Don’t missThe Seidlalm. Organic butter, farm produce, homemade schnapps, and the hut where the idea of the Ski World Cup was born in 1966.
Your rewardBragging rights. Next January, you’ll watch the race and say: I walked that.

Our summer, your way

Six places we’d take our own family, and the little things only locals know about them.

Glacier viewing platform on the Kitzsteinhorn above KaprunKitzsteinhorn glacier

Snowballs at breakfast, swimming by lunch.

Up to 3,000 metres, snow under your feet in July, then back down to the lake for the afternoon. The kind of day you’ll be telling people about for years.

Local secretGo up the glacier first thing. Clouds like to build after noon, and the morning view from the Top of Salzburg platform is the one you want.

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road winding through the Austrian AlpsGrossglockner

36 bends, one glacier and a marmot who wants your carrot.

Built by hand in the 1930s, through the toughest years Austria knew. Opened in 1935, and still the most beautiful drive in the Alps.

Local secretPack a carrot. The marmots at Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe know the drill. Then take the cobbled side road up to the Edelweißspitze for the best view on the whole road.

The Krimml Waterfalls in the Hohe Tauern National ParkKrimml Waterfalls

You’ll hear it before you see it.

380 metres of water in three drops, the highest falls in Austria. The trail climbs right beside the falls, close enough to feel the spray on your face.

Local secretWalk it if you can, at least to the first viewpoints. That’s where you really feel it. Not up for the climb? The lower falls are close to the bottom, and the water world museum there shows you everything without the uphill.
Take me there
Hallstatt Skywalk viewing platform above the lakeHallstatt

So pretty, China built a copy.

True story. But nothing beats the original: 7,000 years of salt, a lake like a mirror and the Skywalk hanging above it all.

Local secretBe there before 9 or after 5, when the day buses have gone. Come by train and take the little ferry across the lake. That’s how Hallstatt should first appear.

Mirabell Gardens with the Hohensalzburg Fortress in SalzburgSalzburg

Mozart, gardens and a hundred terraces.

Baroque squares, Mirabell’s flowers, the fortress on the hill and more cafés than you have days. Sachertorte by the river, Salzburger Nockerl for two. Tradition you can taste.

Local secretSkip the tourist beer halls. Go to Augustiner Bräu in Mülln: monks’ beer poured from wooden barrels into stone mugs, under old chestnut trees. Pure Salzburg.

Dinner by the lake in Zell am See at sunsetFood & stay

Dinner by the lake. Then dessert. Obviously.

Kasnocken in a cast-iron pan, fresh lake fish, a glass of Austrian white as the sun goes down. Hosts who remember your name. This is how we live.

Local secretAsk about the guest summer card when you book. Many hotels here include it: cable cars, lake boats and pools, all covered. We know which ones.
