When is the ski season in Saalbach?
The Skicircus usually opens in late November and runs until early April. For winter 2026/27 the planned dates are 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. January and February bring the best snow, March brings sunshine and long lunches on the terraces. Tell us your dates and we’ll tell you honestly what to expect.
How do I get to Saalbach from the airport?
Salzburg is the closest airport, about 90 km and 1.5 hours away. Munich takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. By train, you travel to Zell am See and take a bus or taxi up to Saalbach in about 30 minutes. We sort the best connection for your arrival time, so you don’t have to.
Is Saalbach good for every level of skier?
Yes, that’s what makes it special. The Skicircus connects 270 km of slopes on one pass, so everyone in your group finds their mountain. Beginners get wide, easy blue runs and some of the best ski schools in Austria. Confident skiers cruise more than 100 km of reds from village to village. Experts take on the black World Cup runs, and freeriders head off-piste into deep powder, with Fieberbrunn even hosting the Freeride World Tour. We plan the right route for every level, so nobody gets bored and nobody gets lost.
What can I do in Saalbach if I don’t ski?
Plenty. The mountains aren’t just for skiers, they’re for everyone. Take the gondola up and you’re part of mountain life too: endless views, a deckchair in the sun, a glass of something good on a hut terrace. Want to move? Winter walks, snowshoe trails and sleigh rides through the snow. Want to slow down? Spa afternoons and long lunches with the skiers. No skis needed, just the feeling of being up here.
How big is the ski area?
Huge. The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn has 270 km of slopes and around 70 lifts, connecting four villages across Salzburg and Tyrol. You could ski a different route every day for a week and never repeat a run. We plan your route day by day.
Is Saalbach good for après-ski?
It’s one of the best in the Alps. But the best spot depends on what you like: loud and lively, live music, or a quiet drink by the fire. We know which one fits you, and which one is on tonight.
