Frequently Asked Questions

Why travel Europe by train?

Because it’s the most comfortable way from A to B. No airport queues, no security lines, no driving on foreign roads. You board in the city centre, sit by a big window and step off in the next city centre. The journey becomes part of the holiday, not the time you lose between two places.

Can’t I just book the tickets myself?

You can. But a rail trip is more than tickets. It’s the right connections, the right seats, the right hotel near the right station, and the boat, bus or taxi for the last stretch. Some booking sites only speak German or Italian, and some trains sell out. We do the puzzle, you enjoy the ride.

What exactly do you sort for us?

The route, the timetables, the tickets and seat reservations. Hotels placed so you can walk or get there easily from the station. Local transport at each stop, whether that’s a funicular, a lake boat or a taxi. And the experiences on the way: a wine cellar, a guided walk, timed museum tickets.

How do we get from the station to the hotel?

That’s exactly what we plan before you travel. Sometimes it’s a five-minute walk, sometimes a tram, a boat or a taxi waiting for you. You’ll know before you arrive, so you never stand on a platform wondering where to go next.

Can we combine several countries in one trip?

Yes, and that’s where the train shines. Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland, Hungary, Czechia: you cross borders without changing seats or unpacking. One country, a few regions or several capitals, it all works on rails.

What kind of rail trip suits us?

Whatever you love. Culture in Vienna and Prague, food in Styria and Trentino, hiking and biking in Tyrol, panoramic lines like the Bernina, or a night train to Rome. Tell us what makes you happy on holiday and we build the route around it.

Is train travel easy with luggage, kids or older travellers?

Usually easier than flying. No weight limits like on planes, space to stand up and walk, toilets on board and no transfers to remote airports. We choose connections with fewer changes and enough time between trains, so nobody has to run.

First class or second class?

Both work well in Europe. First class gives you more space, quieter carriages and on some trains a meal at your seat. On scenic routes we always aim for the window side. We’ll tell you where the upgrade is worth it and where it isn’t.

What about night trains?

They save you a hotel night and a full travel day. You fall asleep in one country and wake up in another. Cabins sell out early, so if you dream of a night train, tell us early.

When should we start planning?

The sooner the better. Popular trains, night cabins and good hotels near stations fill up, especially in summer and around Christmas markets. But even if your dates are close, ask. We’ll find what still works.

What will it cost?

Every rail journey is different. The route, the season, the class and the hotels you choose all shape the cost, and you always stay in control. We send you the best options and booking links, and you book directly, with no mark-up from us. Our planning fee depends on how complex the route is: a journey within one region starts from €79, and journeys across several countries start from €279. Before we begin, you receive one clear fixed fee from us, so you know exactly what the planning service will cost. No hidden planning charges.

How do we start?

Send us your dates, where you land and what you love. A real local replies within 24 hours with first ideas. Free to enquire, it takes 2 minutes.
